Tonight we went to my Dad and Stepmom’s house in Mesa to have dinner with them. They are Zoe’s grandparents on my side. This was Zoe’s first trip to someone elses house. She was great! We strapped her in the car seat without any fuss, except from her mom who was convinced that her little safety belts were gonna squeeze her to death. I loosened ‘em up. If only Kris would too. She didn’t make a ppep the whole trip.

We arrived and Zoe was awake but not fussy at all. She was fed by her grandma, Eleana, who did a great job. After eating she summarily fell fast asleep, she was so relaxed, more relaxed then I have ever seen her sleeping. She was so out that a 2 diaper changes performed while she was asleep didn’t even arouse her at all.

We then got to eat. Eleana is a great cook and she made some of my favorite macaroni salad. Anyway, after dinner my Dad and I went out back and smoked some nice cigars he got for Christmas. We talked about haivng kids and Dad told me a funny story about my grandfather who passed away afew years a go. I was very close with my grandpa and I miss him very much.

It was nice, just me and my Dad hanging out. We also lit of some firecrackers and lady fingers with Brandon. Good time. They are going to make reall good free baby sitters. wink wink.

We packed up Zoe and headed home, again no peeps at all. She was great. I love her.

For any of you who might be wondering, the Diaper Champ (a competitor to the Diaper Genie) that we own, is no match for the light-heavywieght contender Zoe Oldenburg. The champ has been devistated by the challenger in only one short week.

Zoe is now officially one week old. What a week. It went by really quick as im sure the thousands more to come. Beforw you know it, she’ll be wrecking the car! My body is getting used to sleeping for 2 hours at a time! Wow, this stuff still is cool. I go back to work in another week and it will be much tougher wneh i cant take a quick nap any time i need to.

Well, its 2:30 AM and I just got done feeding Zoe. She will be exactly 1 week old tomorrow at 11:55 AM (actually today, argh!) Sleep deprivation, what a feeling. Our sleep time has gone from the lump sum to the annuity. 2-3 hours at a time, when Zoe wants. She’s sleeping her best between 5 and 9 AM right now. Kris and I are walking zombies each asking the other “You need to go to sleep?” when we clearly wish we could both just crash ourselves.

Kris had some heavy contractions early this morning but they only lasted for a 20 minutes or so. I feel so bad for her, I hope this birth wont be too bad. Were hoping, Kris is hoping, that she can get an epidural(sp?) as soon as she goes in. Appt. is still set for X-mas eve, 10:00PM…

We are still trying to decide if we want to go to the family X-mas eve party that we usually have every year but not this year, gee, I wonder why. Its at 2:00PM and we are going to have a long day/night, Kris really needs her rest for this ordeal…
