21 Months….ARGGHHHHH!!!
September 25, 2007 12:24 pmZoe hit the 21 Month mark yesterday. Hard to believe she’ll 2 years old in 3 months. Zoe has made amazing strides in her speech this month. She is having the vocabulary explosion that the Baby Manual talks about. Words like “mall” and “mail” when Momma goes to the mall and then gets the mail on the way home. Its cool.
The stuff that was not cool this month:
Zoe has child onset asthma. She picked up another cold and because of the asthma, it made her REALLY sick. I tell you, there are few things in my life now that make me feel worse than seeing my daughter struggling to breathe. It is helpless and disconcerting to say the very least.
Other interesting stuff:
Zoe has been falling asleep in our bed while she has been ill. One or both of us lie with her until she falls asleep. After an hour or so, she is OK to move into her bed because she is in a deep sleep. Not this last week while she was sick! No. She conditioned herself to start crying when we tried to move her. So we had to let her sleep in our bed all night. Yeah, yeah I know its bad and so does Momma. It is bad for us too because she rolls around so much it keeps us up all night.
We (Momma) decided that it had to stop. So last Saturday night, while I was out, she put Zoe in her own bed after falling asleep in our bed. As predicted, Zoe screamed bloody murder for 45 minutes in her crib before she gave up and went to sleep. I was home during the last 10 minutes of it. It was all I could do to keep from running in there to her aide. I tried to convince Momma that Zoe was dying in there as I was simultaneously trying to convince myself that she was OK. Momma got mad and I had to go sit on the back porch to not hear her screaming. We figured it would be a week or so of listening to Zoe scream until she got used to being in her bed.
The next night, Momma put Zoe to bed the way we did it before she started sleeping with us. In her room, Momma or I (mostly Momma), would read her a few books in her rocking chair and the put her in her bed. Momma took Zoe into her room and I left the country. Seriously, I cringed in the next room anticipating the horror. There was none. Zoe didn’t make a peep.
Two nights in a row! How ‘but that!
